Manitha Neyam Trust continues to provide relief to families in need during this quarantine.  In this past week during a curfew lift, we were able to distribute pantry staples to approximately 400 families. The beneficiaries are from 16 villages in Mannar district, selected by the Grama Seveka Officer (Village Service Officer) as well as Kalmunai in the Eastern Province. These pantry items are sufficient for a weeks’ time, and Manitha Neyam Trust expects to continue the support to them.

We noted that only a fragment of the affected families received the help from us and there are more people who are struggling to find a single meal for a day as they have no means of income due to the current pandemic situation.  At present, all these families live below the poverty line, and heavily depend on donations.  Unfortunately, there is not enough relief due to the nationwide lockdown.  MNT with the support of the donors and volunteers, expects to continue our relief efforts within our capacity and we believe that every donation counts. Thank you for your continued support.
