Restoration of Vision Project

A notable trend in the recent past has been the escalating number of people diagnosed with eye ailments in the North East regions. Some as a result of the past conflict, lack of timely medical care, a result of their lifestyle while others due to natural causes. The Manitha Neyam Trust responded to this growing area of concern by initiating the "Project Restoration of Vision' in 2008. Since then areas in the "Vavuniya District and Jaffna have received specialized help beginning with operative assessments, medical equipment, medication and dedicated eye doctors and surgeons.

The response has been phenomenal and the waiting list for these services is ever on the increase. The number of cataract cases is 236 patients overwhelming while the demand for spectacles and consultation necessitates urgent action.
