Mother & Child Care Vavuniya
A neglected lot amongst the needy are generally the expecting mothers and the new born. Their critical care is of utmost importance considering that most yet to be mothers and new mothers have already undergone a lifetime of trauma. This project offers financial assistance by way of prenatal and postnatal care to mothers from the IDP camps ensuring that the proper care and advice is extended to them and the run up to the pregnancy and the post period is smooth. The assistance is channeled through the hospitals and doctors in the Vanni area on a ‘as needed basis’.
The benefits of prenatal care are widely acknowledged and are usually part of a well-designed public health policy which is founded on the premise that mothers having healthier babies are less likely to deliver early and pregnancy related complications should be detected earlier so that remedial measures can be taken. The Manitha Neyam Trust has contributed more than Rs 2 million to this project and hopes to continue its support. The necessary kits, material, and baby care is also gifted to the mothers in need
