Hindu College Boys Hostel - Ratmalana

The Hindu College at Ratmalana sits on an extensive property providing the ideal ambience for students to widen their knowledge and develop their talents. It was the first project identified by the Manitha Neyam Trust way back in 1999 to support and encourage. In fact 2009 marks 10 years of the Manitha Neyam Trust's relentless work in alleviating the suffering of infants and their mothers, children, students, less privileged, differently able and those aspiring for a better life.

Accordingly, over a period of time funds were consistently provided for the education of over 40 boys to cater to their needs. Subsequently 16 computers were donated, sanitation facilities were improved and a new toilet block was added to the building. As of now contributions amounting to over Rs 15 million have seen a significant improvement in the overall condition of the College. The Manitha Neyam Trust provides funds for special coaching in English, Mathematics and Science for all the children in the hostels most of whom are the war affected. Special tuition classes are also being arranged for children who will be sitting for their GCE A/Level examination in August 2010. Rapid revision classes are being offered to O/Level and A/Level students. Regular medical, eye and dental checkups are also being provided. A regular contribution of Rs. 90,000/- reaches the school faithfully every month. A significant donation was the construction of bath rooms at a cost of over Rs. 1,000,000. Considering the commendable work of the college, it has been proposed to increase the contributions to Rs. 270,000 per month.

Manitha Neyam Trust is not interested in getting mired in political debate; our actions and decisions are motivated purely and entirely by the needs of those in need.
