President's message

"If you have never experienced the solitude of imprisonment, the agony of torture and hunger, you are much ahead of the 500 million people who live in this world. If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes to wear, a roof above your head and a place to sleep - you are richer than the 75% of the people who live on this earth"
When you consider what we have been given - in talent, privilege, and opportunity - there is almost no limit to what the world has a right to expect from us. It may be easy to cite the prevailing financial/economic crisis as a reason to curtail giving, but what comes to my mind readily is my all time favourite phrase:

"I complained I had no shoes until I saw a man with no feet."

The reality is this - millions of people, who could well be our own kith and kin, are innocent victims of circumstances and have to face the same grim reality of hunger and loneliness day after day, as a result of the ongoing civil strife in Sri Lanka. The question is - do we care enough to offer our support to help those that currently receive no assistance from anyone; those that have been thrown aside, forgotten or simply overlooked, most importantly, those who come from where many of us come from but weren't fortunate enough to be afforded the same opportunities. It is our passion, our burning desire, to reach out and feel the pain of those who are less fortunate; to walk a mile in their shoes to understand their grief and to appreciate our blessings in those same steps; by doing so to realise the humanitarian role we could play in their lives and let our own lives be enriched as a result. Keeping in line with our passion, it is our vision to work towards reducing the pain and agony of the helpless and those in need by giving hope in life through educational and vocational assistance and taking care of their basic needs. I'm glad to say that MNT made the timely move to address the concerns of these innocent children and women who have been made victims of war and natural disasters and with the support of many kind and generous supporters have already made a huge impact in the lives of many of these people in dire need
